When Food Empowerment Project reached out to me for the design and illustration of their Vegan Filipino Food Booklet, I was honored and beyond excited to put my whole heart into it. I've always believed that food is political, and the face of healthy and plant-based eating has never looked like my family, or been accessible to marginalized folks in general. I was and still am so proud to be part of a project that changes this. When designing this booklet, I was heavily inspired by my family. The cover is illustrations made up of the fruits and vegetables that my parents grew up eating in the Philippines.
